Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje joins England’s Charlton Athletic
Harambee Stars ace Collins Sichenje has officially joined Charlton Athletic FC in the English Championship, marking a stellar rise to his fast-growing career.
The former AFC Leopards and Sweden-based centre back has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the London-based club, moving from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Vojvodina.
Speaking afterwards, the 22-year-old expressed his elation to start a new career in London.

Charlton Athletic’s manager, Nathan Jones, also shared his excitement about landing the Kenyan defender.
“We are thrilled to add Collins… he’s an aggressive, front-footed center-back who is only 22 years of age,” he stated.
Sichenje started his career with Green Commandos before joining Leopards in September 2019.
Sichenje’s overseas exploits
He made his first pro stint by joining Greek side PAOK in July 2021, a move that turned sour as the player never made any appearance for the club.
His breakthrough transfer came on 11 July 2024, when he joined Vojvodina on a six-month loan deal, a deal that was made permanent two months later, and the player signed a three-year deal.
His impressive performances in Serbia have proven crucial to his latest big move.
He also seized his chance at the international level, where he has played eight times for Kenya. scoring once.
Under coach Benni McCarthy, the defender has also emerged among the crop of players entrusted with leadership responsibility, taking over the captaincy in several of Kenya’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers after Michael Olunga got substituted.
The move adds to the growing number of Harambee Stars players in the January 2026 transfer.
Sichenje’s transfer makes him the second Kenyan to join the championship in the past couple of days after Zak Vyner’s move to Wrexham on Sunday, February 1, 2026, both moves highlighting Kenyan football’s rising profile globally.
