Kenya U20 captain Amos Wanjala makes first team debut with Valencia

Kenyan U20 captain Amos Wanjala finally made his first appearance with the Velancia’s first team on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Estadi Antonio Puchades in Paterna.
He came on in the 33rd minute as Valencia defeated CD Eldense 3-0 in the pre-season encounter, marking a major career milestone.
Valencia established control early in the match, securing all three goals during a dominant first-half performance with the youngster coming on after Jesus Vasquez’s second goal.
Called up for the seniors team
Wanjala, who will mark his anniversary at the Spanish La Liga reserves at the turn of the year, earned his stint with the senior team for the pre-season, replacing Lucas Núñez who picked up a knock during a session in Girona.
Making his debut a year after joining from Kenyan youth football, the promising youngster is determined to prove his worth on the foreign stage.

In the past, Wanjala reflected with nostalgia on his experience with the first teamers.
From Kenya to Spain
“It is my first pre-season with the first team. It’s a great opportunity, and I am very happy to be here,” a delighted Wanjala stated. “I arrived here in January with the B team, and it has been great interacting with the players, staff, and coaches. I thank God for how far He has brought me.”
Wanjala also featured for Nastic Academy, and lower-tier Athletic Torrellano after his stint in the country, where he featured for St. Anthony’s Boys in Kitale.
He later moved to Nastic before making his path upwards to join Valencia in January 2026.
He went on to become a standout pillar in the Valencia B team, prior to earning the rare chance to rub shoulders with the senior pros during this pre-season camp.
