Kenya U20 skipper Amos Wanjala featured for the Vakencia reserves in Spain in a comfortable 3-1 win over Saint Andreu on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

The victory extended the club’s comeback run from a spate of poor results in recent games thanks to goals from Rodrigo Gamón, Mario Domínguez, and Aimar Blázquez.

Gamon stormed the host to the lead in the 20th minute, planting his header just past the visitor’s keeper after a teasing cross from the right wing.

Huge win

VCF Mestalla remained firm and extended their lead with new offensive pressure from Rodrigo Gamón that caused the goalkeeper Iñaki to make a mistake.

Mario Domínguez took advantage to score for the sixth consecutive matchday, his 14th goal this season in Segunda Federación.

Aimar Blázquez finished off the contest with a perfectly placed goal past the goalie in the final half.

The visiting team’s late goal in stoppage time never threatened the victory.

The result saw Valencia pick up a crucial victory, their second in their last six games, where the team has only lost once but has seen their quest to climb the log hampered by draws.

VCF Mestalla’s next match will be on Saturday, April 18th at 4:00 PM, away against CD Castellón B.

Wanjala joined the Valencia feeder team at the start of the year and made his debut on January 31, 2026.

He earned a cameo appearance during a 1:0 win against Alcoyano in a Segunda Federación game.

The appearance marked an important career milestone for the budding defender.

AFCON U20

Born in Mombasa, the former St. Anthony’s Kitale Boys alumnus made an eye-catching performance for Kenya U20’s Junior Stars side in the 2025 African Cup of Nations Championship (AFCON) in Egypt.

Following his move to Valencia, Wanjala opened up that his immediate target was making the most out of the switch and improving his profile.

“I am very happy to be here at Valencia CF. It is a great club with a great history. The Valencia CF Academy is a great academy. It is a great opportunity for me, and I want to make the most of it and achieve more success with Valencia CF,” he said.
