Liverpool face fresh hurdle in Minteh’s chase as talks for PSG winger resume

Liverpool’s potential move to sign Gambian winger Yankuba Minteh from Brighton & Hove Albion has hit a fresh hurdle.
According to a report from Sky Sports, talks between the two clubs are not progressing as smoothly as hoped, with the player’s valuation proving to be a major sticking point.
Brighton are holding out for £80m and have already turned down two bids from Liverpool, with the latest offer being worth Ksh10.58 billion. This comes despite earlier reports indicating that the player had reached a verbal agreement with the Reds, as he is eager to join the new project at Anfield.
However, Liverpool are currently unwilling to meet Brighton’s price tag for Minteh, who is also sidelined with an injury and expected to be out until October 2026.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are set to resume talks with Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday, August 26, 2026, for French winger Bradley Barcola.
Despite prolonged interest in the wide man, a difference in valuation between the two clubs has prevented an agreement so far. PSG are understood to be holding out for around Ksh25.57 billion for the France international, though there is growing optimism that a compromise can be reached as the transfer window enters its final week.
Seeking Salah’s replacement
The Reds had also assessed the possibility of bringing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) youngster Ibrahim Mbaye and Bournemouth’s Brazilian winger Rayan to Anfield as they continue their search for reinforcements on the wings.
The club lost Mohammed Salah, who left on a free after the expiry of his contract, while winger Cody Gakpo could also make a last-minute move away from Merseyside, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City among the clubs interested in the Dutch winger.
As part of the incoming for the new season, the club roped in Ronald Araujo on loan from Barcelona, while Jeremy Jacquet and Ifeanyi Ndukwe joined on a permanent transfer from French Ligue 1.
Victor Munoz also joined the team’s offensive Arsenal from Osasuna.
Liverpool will look to finalise the talks and seal the deal before the transfer window closes. The Reds are looking to bolster their attack and avoid last-minute struggles.
