Collo Blue rewards emerging talent after Mezesha music challenge

Kenyan musician and creative Collo Blue has rewarded emerging talent following the Mezesha Music Challenge, an initiative that gave young creatives a platform to showcase their skills and compete for cash prizes.
The winners were announced on August 17, 2026, with Ray Beast Musiq taking first place, Young Jaygraph finishing second, and Anyas Maggie securing third place.
Ray Beast takes top position
Ray Beast Musiq emerged as the overall winner of the challenge, earning recognition for his performance. The competition provided him with an opportunity to showcase his creativity before a wider audience while competing alongside other emerging talents.

The challenge had a Ksh50,000 prize for the best freestyle music entry, making the competition not only a platform for exposure but also an opportunity for financial support.
Young Jaygraph finished second, while Anyas Maggie took third place, placing both among the creatives who stood out during the competition.
A challenge built around creativity
The Mezesha Challenge was launched by Collo Blue alongside actress Jackie Matubia, bringing together creatives from different backgrounds.
The competition featured two creative categories — acting and freestyle music. Organisers offered Ksh50,000 for the best acting performance and another Ksh50,000 for the best freestyle music entry.
This gave participants different ways to take part depending on their creative strengths. Rather than limiting the challenge to established musicians, the initiative opened the opportunity to upcoming performers who could use their talent to attract attention.
Collo Blue creates space for upcoming creatives
For Collo Blue, the challenge also adds to his growing role in Kenya’s digital entertainment space. Known for his work in dance and music, he has built much of his profile around creative challenges and content that connects with social media audiences.
The Mezesha initiative extends that approach by giving other creatives a chance to be recognised.

For Ray Beast Musiq, Young Jaygraph and Anyas Maggie, finishing among the top performers could provide a useful boost as they continue developing their creative careers.
The competition also shows how social media-based challenges can become more than promotional campaigns. With organised prizes and recognition, they can provide emerging creatives with opportunities to showcase their abilities, build visibility and potentially connect with new audiences.
The Mezesha Challenge therefore leaves the winners with more than a ranking. It gives them a moment of recognition that they can build on as they pursue their next creative projects.
