Liverpool close in on Ksh21B deal for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool are nearing the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after reaching an agreement in principle with the French champions over a deal worth approximately £120 million (approximately Ksh21 billion).
According to transfer journalist David Orstein, the proposed transfer was agreed upon between the two clubs on Wednesday night, August 26, 2026, with more than £100 million (Ksh17.9 billion) understood to be guaranteed. Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon are overseeing the negotiations as the remaining details are worked out.
Although the agreement has not yet been formally signed and the move is still awaiting completion, Barcola’s potential arrival could have consequences for Liverpool’s attacking options, particularly Cody Gakpo. The Dutch forward has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City during the current transfer window.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola has been developing for several weeks. The 23-year-old had reportedly made it clear that he wanted to join the Premier League club, while discussions between Liverpool and PSG intensified earlier this week.
Barcola became Liverpool’s leading candidate to strengthen the attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure. The club had been preparing an initial proposal for the France international since late July.
The winger still has two years left on his PSG contract but has shown no desire to commit his future to the club beyond his existing agreement. He was subsequently omitted from PSG’s squad for their opening Ligue 1 fixture, a 2-2 draw with Rennes.
Primarily deployed on the left side, Barcola can also play on the right. During the previous campaign, he competed for playing time with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.
Despite facing strong competition, Barcola featured 49 times for PSG during the 2025-26 season, scoring 13 goals and registering seven assists. He helped the club retain the Ligue 1 title while also contributing during another successful European campaign.
Since establishing himself in PSG’s senior team during the 2021-22 season, the Lyon academy graduate has accumulated 39 goals and 37 assists across 152 appearances.
Barcola also played a significant part for France at this summer’s World Cup, featuring in all eight of their matches and finding the net three times.
What Barcola could bring to Liverpool
Liverpool have been looking for additional attacking quality, and Barcola’s profile could provide a major boost to their forward line.
His pace, ability to take on defenders and direct approach would give Liverpool another dangerous wide option. The Frenchman is capable of stretching defences and creating opportunities through his individual ability.
If the transfer is completed, Liverpool would have another quick winger available as the club looks to adopt a more aggressive attacking approach under their new management.
The prospective signing is also likely to excite Liverpool supporters, who have been waiting throughout the summer for a major addition to the attacking department.
For now, however, the deal remains subject to the completion of the outstanding formalities before Barcola can officially become a Liverpool player.
