Transfer news: Liverpool close in on Barcola, Arsenal consider Lewis-Skelly exit

The summer transfer window remains busy, with several Premier League giants working on major deals as the new season approaches.
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are reportedly making progress in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola after reaching an understanding with the player over personal terms.
Barcola has been identified as Liverpool’s leading attacking target throughout the summer. The Reds must now negotiate with PSG, who are understood to be seeking around £145 million (Ksh25.2 billion) before allowing the France international to leave.
Liverpool have already strengthened their defence by bringing in Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on loan and are looking to add further quality before the window closes.
Arsenal continue to reshape their squad
Arsenal are also exploring several possibilities after missing out on Vinicius Jr, who has committed his future to Real Madrid.
Mikel Arteta’s side are considering alternative attacking targets, with Julian Alvarez and Barcola among the names being discussed. The Gunners could also strengthen their defence by making a move for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero.
Romero is reportedly considering leaving Spurs and could make the controversial switch across north London to Arsenal.
Arsenal are also believed to be willing to listen to offers for academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly. Reports indicate that the versatile youngster has been offered to both Chelsea and Manchester United.
The possibility of Lewis-Skelly leaving has emerged following Arsenal’s acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes, which could create greater competition for places in midfield. Arteta has used Lewis-Skelly in both defensive and midfield roles since introducing him to the first team.
The Gunners are additionally searching for defensive cover after William Saliba suffered a back problem at the World Cup. His absence is expected to last several months, while Jurrien Timber remains some weeks away from returning from injury.
Rodri’s Manchester City future uncertain
Manchester City are preparing for the possibility of losing Rodri, with both Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly interested in the midfielder.
The Spain international is entering the final year of his City contract and is said to favour a move to Barcelona. The Catalan club are considering improving their offer after City rejected an initial bid worth £38 million (Ksh6.61 billion).
City, meanwhile, appear to be planning for life without their midfield star and are nearing an agreement to sign Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, who emerged as one of the breakout players of the World Cup.
