I am 24, not 42: Benny Hinn Walubengo explains why he looks older than his age

Young Kenyan public speaker, author, and political figure Benny Hinn Walubengo has addressed questions about his age and physical appearance after his recent appointment to a senior position in the People’s Party sparked conversation online.
The newly appointed Secretary General, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, said he had noticed the comments from netizens questioning how he could be 24 while having a large physique and mature appearance.
“I never thought I would trend. I have seen the comments; it is interesting. People are asking, ‘How is he 24?’ How is he this big?” Walubengo said.
Responding to the questions about his physique, Walubengo humorously attributed his large frame to his Luhya heritage.
“Number one, I am a Luhya; we Luhyas have big bodies. We are blessed; everything in us is big. There is nothing about the Luhya people that is small. Everything is mega. We are the most blessed people,” he said.
Walubengo also addressed conversations surrounding his age, challenging his former classmates to help prove that he is indeed 24.
“I have also seen the conversation about age; I think my classmates will respond to that. If you are my deskmate in school, please record a video,” he explained.
The politician insisted that his age is publicly available and said his journey in leadership and mentorship began when he was much younger.
“I am a young person, and my age is out there. Pastor T mentored me from when I was 16 years old. It is not 42; it is 24. I am a young person. I am not even married. Please do not fasten my age,” Walubengo added.
He also acknowledged that his outfit may have contributed to how mature he appeared in the images that sparked the discussion.
“Another thing about the body, I think the suit I wore yesterday was not the best idea, and lastly, I need a gym trainer so that I can cut weight,” he said.
Beyond his age and physique, Walubengo said some people were also questioning how someone so young could be appointed to a senior political position.
“Also some people are a bit surprised by the growth. How can a young person be given such a position? Well, it is all about growth and capacity building, and I think also because of my body and packaging I might come out as mature,” he said.
Political appointment
Walubengo was on September 22, 2026, unveiled as the Secretary General of the People’s Party, led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, following the party’s announcement of its new officials.
His appointment has placed him in the spotlight, with his age and rapid rise in political circles becoming part of the public conversation.
Walubengo, however, maintained that his age should not be confused with his appearance or the responsibilities he has taken on, insisting that he remains a 24-year-old young person.
