Michael Olise beats Kane and Diaz to top club award
Bayern Munich and France sensation winger Michael Olise has been named as the German club’s player of the year for the 2025/26 season through a popular vote by the club’s fanbase.
The winger who moved from Crystal Palace in 2024 has been confirmed as the recipient of the accolade for the second season in a row after claiming the prize last term.
He was part of the team’s potent offense, leading the club to a memorable cup double of both the Bundesliga title and the German Cup triumph against Stuttgart.
Scintillating form
He had registered 17 goals and 18 assists in 50 games across the 2024/25 season and proved critics wrong with a remarkable run en route to his impressive second season with the Bavarians.
The France international smashed 25 goals and 28 assists from 57 competitive outings for Bayern in the just-concluded season, a feat that had fans overwhelmingly vote for him ahead of his teammates and former English Premier League duo, Harry Kane and Luis Díaz of Colombia
Olise garnered over half the votes (51.4 per cent) to come out ahead with Kane (32 per cent) and Diaz (4 per cent).

His new award adds to his growing accolades after he was also named the Bundesliga player of the season after helping Vincent Kompany’s team reclaim the Bundesliga title.
Mentality
Reflecting on Olise’s performances, the Belgian gaffer extolled the French international’s repertoire, singling out his mentality.
“It is his mentality that makes Michael so special. He works in such a detailed way and can sometimes also get frustrated when things don’t work out,” the coach told his club’s portal at a press conference in April.
“I believe he can get even better. I am not saying he needs to do something different, but I just see in his mentality and the work I see every day in training that there’s even more room for improvement. It’s impressive.”
