Harry Kane: Bayern are really close to winning UEFA Champions League

Bayern Munich are closer than ever to winning the UEFA Champions League, with prolific attacker Harry Kane remaining eager to get his hands on the elusive trophy.
Kane has been in sensational form since joining Bayern from Tottenham, though the continental prize is still missing from his hands. The Bavarians came close last season as Kane enjoyed a stellar campaign before ultimately falling to Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.
Reflecting on the loss, Kane admitted that it came down to fine margins, emphasising that the club is on the cusp of conquering Europe in the coming campaigns.
Bayern falls to eventual champions PSG
Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, advancing 6–5 on aggregate over two thrilling legs.
“We were really close last year; I think we bowed out on the finest margins to a team that became back-to-back Champions League winners. There is no shame in that,” he explained.
“Last year against PSG, it was a crazy game; we went toe-to-toe with them, and I feel this year it will be similar. We hope we can—it is the goal and the standard at this club heading into the competition.”
Ambition remains high
The Englishman believes the ambition across the club remains sky-high, having set the tone in the domestic league with a double last season. With another year of Vincent Kompany at the helm and the integration of new signings, the squad has every right to dream.
“We are coming into a new season believing it needs to be our year. We want to find a way. The season before we also had a fine run, and as the years go down and the manager learns more about the team, we will be better.”
Kane further acknowledged that winning the prestigious silverware takes more than just ambition, pointing out that a successful European run also requires a bit of luck, particularly staying clear of injuries.
“We are close; with the Champions League, sometimes you need to be injury-free and have your best players fit and running. A lot goes into a campaign,” he stated.
