BB Bread keeper speaks on next target after slaying Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

BB Bread custodian Ezekiel Owade has kept his cards close to his chest regarding the team’s prospects following their fairytale exploits in the 2026 FKF Cup.
Speaking on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the shot-stopper stated that their elimination of the FKF PL bigwigs Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards has boosted their confidence levels, but there is still a lot to be done as the competition enters the next stage, with the round of 16 draws awaiting.
Owade, who ranks among the players with previous top-flight experience during his time at AFC Leopards and Wazito, insisted that they remain committed to extending the same run in the next stage, with the target of progressing to the competition’s quarterfinals.
Sent a message
“We have shifted our focus to our league games. We know they will come more determined against us, as our wins have sent a strong message to our league opponents. On the FKF Cup, we cannot say much about it. We have enough motivation from beating Gor and AFC. We now await the Round of 16, and we want to continue with the same run and commitment and see where it takes us,” he added.
His sentiments come after his teammate Denis Muthini made a bold declaration that the team will be eyeing to last all the round and grace the knockout cup finals.
Speaking after their Sunday, March 8, 2026, elimination of the 2025 finalist Gor Mahia at the Nyayo National Stadium, Muthini, who stepped off the bench to dispatch the decisive blow, reiterated the secret to the team’s impressive run that has inspired the giant-killing run.
“We always push ourselves harder with each game and opponent. We entered the competition knowing it wouldn’t be easy, as we would meet such big teams as Leopards and Gor Mahia,” he stated.

The attacking midfielder also hailed their coach’s input in their giant-killing run, asserting that they hardly could have made the feats without the trainer’s invaluable input.
“We can only credit our coaches for the game plans and strategies we have used to approach the games.
Eyes on the Finals
“For the next game after eliminating Gor and AFC, let us next meet in the finals. We want to make it to the finals and play the deciding game,” he stated.
The Nairobi Regional League side could be on a collision course with another FKF PL opponent who dominated the list of teams that advanced to the round of 16 games.
