Ruto and Kitui governor contribute Ksh1.1M to family that lost 4 family members in Ngoluni accident

President William Ruto and Kitui Governor Julius Malombe have contributed a total of Ksh1.1 million to a family that lost four family members at Ngoluni Market in Makueni County.
Speaking during the burial of the four family members in Ikanga, Kitui County on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Kitui South MP Rachael Kaki revealed that Ruto had contributed Ksh800,000 to the family.
“President William Ruto has supported this family with Ksh800,000, which has already been handed over to the family through the area chief. I pray and ask that the money be used to support the remaining children,” Kaki said.

Through his representative, John Mwendandu, Malombe revealed that he had contributed Ksh300,000 to the family.
Also, Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo, through representatives, contributed Ksh60,000 and promised to clear bills for the family.
The victims, Jemimah Mbinya, 14-year-old Chris Musili, 11-year-old Caleb Musili, and two-year-old Esther Musili, were killed on Friday, November 21, 2024, when a lorry rammed into the matatu they were travelling in along the Ngoluni–Tawa road.
The children’s mother had travelled to pick up her son from Makueni Boys High School, where he had just completed his KCSE exams, before the fatal collision occurred.
Two siblings who were also in the vehicle survived but sustained injuries. The father, Musili Sammy, was away at work when the tragedy struck.
The accident also claimed the lives of three other passengers.
As the family lays their loved ones to rest, community members, clergy and local leaders have reiterated calls for stricter enforcement of traffic rules, improved road engineering in accident-prone sections, and greater accountability among PSV operators and long-distance truck drivers.
