Over 200 needy students receive financial support from NGAAF

Over 200 bright students from poor families in Vihiga have received financial support from Vihiga National government affirmative action fund(NGAAF).
While issuing the cheques to the beneficiaries, on Friday, February 27, 2026, Vihiga county woman representative Beatrice Adagala said the funds are aimed at supporting bright students from poor families to access education.
Adagala said only deserving needy cases benefited from the NGAAF scholarship and bursaries after strict vetting.
Adagala said she wants to see all students especially those supposed to join grade 10 at school.
” We have issued bursaries and full scholarship to 200 students in Vihiga county through NGAAF. The beneficiaries are both from secondary schools and colleges. We have those who have received full scholarship and other are given bursary of Ksh 10,000 each,” said Adagala.

Adagala asked Principals not to chase students from school because of school fees. He said those students who benefit from scholarship and bursaries should be kept to school and the fees will be paid through NGAAF.
Adagala noted that chasing of students from school because of school fees impact negatively on their performance in national exams.
Adagala also encouraged parents to educate their children who are physically challenged.
She said she had been able to support those students with physical disabilities to access education.
” Being physically disabled does not mean such children can not access education. Let us support our children with disabilities to access education. They will be more of help in the society after excelling in academics,” urged Adagala.
The Vihiga county woman MP revealed that majority of students on NGAAF support performed well in last year KCSE exams.

She said majority of the students scored direct university entry grades(C+) and above while others strained grsdestyst will land them in good colleges.
” I am happy to report that majority of students who were being supported by NGAAF passed the last year KSCE exams. Many are joining universities and that is my job and joy,” said Adagala.
Parents who thronged Mbale Praise Centre to collect cheques thanked Adagala for considering to support bright students.
They said some has nothing to dispose to send their children to school but with NGAAF under the patronage of Adagala their children are at school.
” May God bless Adagala for supporting our children through NGAAF. We are proud of her leadership,” chanted the joyous parents.
