Nelson Havi vows to complete Ruto’s highway projects after 2032 win

Former Law Society President, Senior Counsel Nelson Havi has hinted at vying for the presidency and continuing with the work done by both retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto.

In a statement on his X account on Friday, January 23, 2026, Havi shared his political ambitions for the year 2032.

He praised retired President Uhuru Kenyatta for building serious infrastructure projects during his presidency.

“Give credit where it is due. President Uhuru Kenyatta built serious transport infrastructure: road and rail.”

In his view, Ruto should construct a dual carriage road from Nairobi to Soy, via Eldoret.

Havi added that he will pick the project, extending it to Malaba in 2032 when he hopes that his political ambitions will become a reality.

“President William Ruto should construct a dual carriage road from Nairobi to Soy, via Eldoret. I will pick up from there to Malaba in 2032. Affordable housing ni kipindi,” Havi stated.

The former LSK President has been active politically and contested for the Westland parliamentary seat in the 2022 general election on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

He lost to Tim Wanyonyi of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Havi has also been monitoring political developments in the country and cautioned Kenya’s Gen Z that their numbers will amount to nothing if they fail to register as voters in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Havi cautions Kenya’s Gen Z

He opined that traditional voting blocs will be retained should Gen Z fail to register in good numbers, giving the current crop of political elite an advantage.

“We have tried, without any great degree of success, to convince Gen Z to actualise their power of change into a ballot power, but they’re not doing so.  I’m afraid to say, if this condition prevails, then we will retain the traditional voter blocs,” Havi said on Monday, October 13, 2025.

“And that is the reason why William Ruto may be confident; that’s the reason why Kalonzo Musyoka may be confident because unless there is an injection of the 6.2 million into the voter basket, then we’ll maintain the status quo,” he added.
