Mosiria urges young people to be careful when criticising their leaders

Geoffrey Mosiria has forgiven a young man who uttered unprintable words on social media targeting him.

In a post on Facebook on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Mosiria said that he had reconciled with the man after he reached out and admitted his mistake.

According to the Customer Care department boss in Nairobi County, the young man had previously appeared in a video criticising him using harsh and vulgar language.

“After some time, he reached out, admitted his mistake, and withdrew his words. He acknowledged that he had spoken out of emotion and later realised he was wrong.

“I appreciated his courage to come forward and take responsibility,” Mosiria stated.

Mosiria said the incident reminded him that leadership comes with criticism, both fair and unfair. He noted that he accepts criticism from everyone because leadership requires accountability, growth, and listening.

“As a leader, I accept criticism from everyone because leadership is about accountability, growth, and listening to the people we serve.

“Not every opinion will be positive, and that is okay. Constructive criticism helps us improve and become better,” he wrote.

He used the moment to encourage young people to be cautious about how they express dissatisfaction online, especially when addressing leaders or public officials.

Mosiria routes for respect

Mosiria urged social media users to embrace respectful communication even when criticising.

“However, I encourage everyone using social media to always communicate respectfully. If you must criticise, do so constructively and decently, not through insults or vulgar language. Respectful dialogue builds solutions, while abusive words only create division,” he said.

He concluded by emphasising the importance of maturity and responsibility in public discourse.

“At the end of the day, maturity is not about never making mistakes, but about admitting them, learning, and choosing to do better,” Mosiria added.

The reconciliation has since drawn reactions online, with many praising both the young man for admitting fault and Mosiria for handling the matter with calmness and forgiveness, highlighting the role of dialogue in resolving misunderstandings.
