KRA announces extended working hours to ease the last-minute tax filing rush
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced extended working hours at its service points to support taxpayers during the tax filing period ahead of the June 30 deadline.
The move is aimed at helping more people file their returns on time as the deadline draws closer. KRA said the extended hours will apply at Tax Service Offices, selected Huduma Centres, and its Contact Centre.
“Extended working hours to support you during the filing period,” MyGov stated on X on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
According to the notice, Tax Service Offices will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. between June 23, 2026, and June 26, 2026. The offices will then operate from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on June 29, 2026, and June 30, 2026.
The extended schedule is expected to give taxpayers more time to access services and complete the filing process before the deadline.

Selected Huduma Centres will also operate from Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. These centres will remain closed on weekends. Other Huduma Centres across the country will continue operating on their normal schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and will also remain closed on weekends.
Easier access to services
KRA also announced longer operating hours for its Contact Centre during the filing period. The centre will remain open on weekdays until either 10:00 p.m. or midnight, depending on the date. On weekends, the Contact Centre will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to assist taxpayers who may need support while filing their returns.
“The Contact Centre has extended hours on weekdays, closing at 10:00 p.m. or midnight depending on the date, and is open on weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.”
The announcement comes after KRA introduced a simpler way for salaried workers to file employment income returns through WhatsApp using Shuru. The system is linked to the iTax platform and allows taxpayers to access their income details, verify information, and submit returns without moving between different platforms.
“File your employment income return with Shuru in 3 simple steps. It’s quick, easy, and can be done directly on WhatsApp through Shuru https://wa.me/254711099999,” KRA stated.
The deadline for filing returns is June 30, 2026.
