Kenya Power lists parts of 5 counties to experience blackout on Thursday, February 5

Kenya Power has announced planned power outages in parts of five counties on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The company said the blackouts are needed to carry out maintenance work and improve service reliability. Affected areas include Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, and Kisumu counties.

Nairobi County

In Nairobi, residents and businesses in Umoja 2 will experience a power interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. Areas affected include Peter Kibukosya Secondary and Primary School, Mwangaza Nursery School, Mugumo Nursery School, Umoja 2 Market, and Simba Day Nursery, as well as nearby homes and businesses.

Other parts of Nairobi, including Nasra Estate, Bee Centre, Sosion Estate, and part of Kayole Spine Road, will be without power from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Key locations affected include Mama Lucy Hospital, Naivas Supermarket, Shell Petrol Station, Shujaa Mall, and surrounding customers. Residents and businesses should plan to avoid disruption.

Kajiado County

In Kajiado County, power will be interrupted along the Nazareen Ex Matasia Feeder from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Affected locations include Rimpa, Balozi, Ongata Royal Academy, Kandisi Police, Kandisi Catholic Church, Metropolitan, Kambi Moto, Rangau, and adjacent homes and businesses. Customers are advised to take precautions during the outage.

Uasin Gishu County

Parts of Uasin Gishu County, including Ziwa Centre, Ziwa Machine, Segero, Makongi Farm, Kabenes, Maji Mazuri, and Richo Kapsang, will experience blackouts from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Nandi County

In Nandi County, parts of Kabongwa and surrounding areas will be without electricity from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Residents and businesses are encouraged to plan their activities to avoid inconvenience.

Kisumu County

Parts of Kisumu County, including Songhor Market, Songhor RDU, Onenonam, and adjacent customers, will experience outages from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. Kenya Power has always emphasised that these planned blackouts are part of routine maintenance and urged people to follow safety measures during the interruptions.
