Kenya Power lists parts of 3 counties to experience blackout on Sunday, February 1

Kenya Power, through X, has announced that parts of Nairobi, Kisumu, and Mombasa counties will experience scheduled power outages on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The outages are necessary to allow maintenance work and ensure the continued reliability of the electricity supply. The announcement is to help those in the affected areas, who have been advised to plan accordingly.
“Good evening. The following areas will be on planned maintenance tomorrow, (01.02.2026),” Kenya Power’s statement issued on Saturday, January 31, 2026 read in part.
Nairobi region
In Nairobi County, the blackout will affect parts of the Industrial Area from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas affected include Factory Street, Machakos Road, part of Enterprise Road, NCPB, Industrial Police, NYS, Public Works, KIHBIT, and adjacent customers.

Western region
Parts of Kisumu County will also experience power interruptions on the same day. The affected area includes the Wigot Hotel, the Sharp Brain Academy, the Denva Hotel, the Kiwasco Water Tank, and adjacent customers.
The blackout in the western region will start at 10.00 am and end at 2.00 pm. Kenya Power emphasised that the scheduled outage is part of routine maintenance to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply in the region.
Coast region
In Mombasa County, areas around Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital and parts of Kilifi Corner will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Specific locations include Aldina Visram, Fayaz Bakery, Suhufi Hotel, Lighthouse Eye Hospital, KMTC, OLA Bondeni, Imani Buses, Tawakal Buses, Lukenya Flour Mills, DIB Bank Limited, and adjacent customers. The maintenance work is critical to prevent unplanned outages and improve service delivery in the coastal region.
Kenya Power has urged customers in all affected counties to prepare for the temporary loss of electricity.
