Kenya Power lists parts of 5 counties to experience blackout on Friday, February 20

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions set to affect parts of five counties on Friday, February 20, 2026, as part of scheduled network maintenance aimed at improving network stability and reliability.
In a statement shared on X, the utility company noted that the outages will occur between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm in selected areas.
Nairobi and North Rift region
In Nairobi, the blackout will affect Kyuna and the surrounding areas. Power will be unavailable along Kyuna Road, Kyuna Crescent, Loresho Ridge, Loresho Crescent, Shanzu Road, Kibagare Way, Kibagare Valley, Mwanzi Road, Lower Kabete Road, Hillview, Turkana Drive, part of Lake View Estate, and adjacent customers. The outages in this area are scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Parts of Uasin Gishu County will also be affected. Residents in RVTTI, Hillside, Eldowas Kipkorgot Centre, Carbacid, Naiberi Centre, Plateau Bible College, and surrounding areas should expect power interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Western and South Nyanza regions
In Kakamega County, outages will hit Harambee, Madungungu, Matungu, Mayoni, Koyonzo, Mwira, Imakale, Munami, Ogalo, Bulimbo, Panyakko, Musambaa, Mwanachi, and Shiabo. The power disruption is scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Parts of Migori County, including Kehancha, Ntimaru, Gwitwembe, Kegonga, Getongoroma, Taranganya, Kobinto, Masangora, Komosimo, Carose, Senta, Komotobo, Matare, Maeta, Nyarao, Komasicha, and Komomwamu, will also experience outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Central Kenya
In Nyeri County, areas affected include Tumutumu, Tumutumu Hospital, Tegu Coffee Factory, Mathaithi, Rugogati, Giagatika, Mbogo-Ini, Ikonju, Kiangoma, Karie Coffee Factory, Mungaria Polytechnic, Wakamata, Kaiyaba, Mathira Technical Institute, and Ngandu Girls Secondary School.
Other central locations, such as the Brade Gate Hotel and surrounding facilities, will also be without electricity from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kenya Power reiterated that the planned maintenance is essential for enhancing network reliability.
“The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (20th February 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the company stated.
The company advised residents and businesses to make necessary arrangements and referred the public to its website for the most up-to-date schedule.
