Kenya Power lists areas to experience electricity outages on Sunday, August 16

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions that will affect parts of Nairobi and Kilifi counties on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
The electricity distributor said the outages will take place between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm as part of planned maintenance. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to prepare for the interruption during the stated hours.
“Good evening. Please find the areas affected by the planned power interruption tomorrow,” Kenya Power said on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Nairobi region
In Nairobi, the planned power interruption will affect customers around Kijabe Street. The outage is scheduled to begin at 9.00 am and is expected to continue until 5.00 pm.
The affected areas include Mediamax, Longonot Place, Kijabe Street and adjacent customers. Residents and businesses within these areas are expected to experience the interruption during the maintenance period.
Kenya Power listed the Kijabe Street area under its Nairobi Region schedule for Sunday. Customers have been advised to make the necessary arrangements before the electricity supply is interrupted.
Coast region
In the Coast Region, Kenya Power will carry out planned maintenance in parts of Kilifi County. The interruption will affect several areas around Mariakani.
The power outage is scheduled for from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Kenya Power listed Mariakani Town, Bamba, Kadzonzo, Roche and Shreeji among the affected areas.

Other areas listed include Mariakani Barracks, Weighbridge, Mariakani Police, Mariakani Catholic and Miracle Church. Mkilo, Kalalani, Msufini, World Poles and adjacent customers will also be affected.
Residents and businesses in the listed areas are expected to plan around the eight-hour interruption. The maintenance is part of Kenya Power’s planned schedule for the day.
Outage follows Kisumu maintenance
The Sunday, August 16, 2026 interruptions come a day after Kenya Power scheduled planned maintenance in parts of Kisumu County. On Saturday, August 15, 2026, customers in Katungu were expected to experience an electricity interruption.
The Kisumu outage was scheduled to run from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Kenya Power said the interruption was necessary to facilitate planned maintenance in the area.
Customers affected by the Sunday interruptions in Nairobi and Kilifi are similarly expected to experience a temporary loss of electricity between the stated hours. Kenya Power has advised customers to plan for the scheduled maintenance.
