Kenya Power issues blackout notice for parts of 2 counties on Saturday, August 29

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia counties on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
In a notice shared on Friday, August 28, Kenya Power said the listed areas will experience interruptions between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
The utility said the interruptions will facilitate network maintenance, with affected customers expected to remain without electricity for several hours.
Uasin Gishu areas
In Uasin Gishu County, the interruption will affect customers around Murgor Hills.
The affected areas include Murgor Hills, Kataniin, Nyigoon, Tiret, Kaptebee, Kaplemur and Elgon Estate, as well as adjacent customers.
Kenya Power said the interruption is part of planned maintenance work on its network.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been urged to prepare for the temporary loss of electricity.
Trans Nzoia areas
In Trans Nzoia County, the planned outage will affect parts of Aturukan and Kibomet.
The company listed Aturukan Hotel, Mt. Elgon Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet Primary School, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort and Mwaita Primary School among the affected locations.
Other areas include Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Parkera and Murgoiyo, together with adjacent customers.
The interruption in the two areas is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Customers urged prepare
Kenya Power said the maintenance exercise may cause inconvenience to customers but is necessary as the company works on its network.
“We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” the utility said.
The company has encouraged customers to check its latest planned maintenance schedule for updates.
Kenya Power also reminded customers that they can access its services through *977#.
For additional assistance, customers can chat with the company’s digital customer service chatbot.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (29TH AUGUST 2026),” Kenya Power said in its notice.
