Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 4 counties on Tuesday, June 16

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, and Kwale counties on Tuesday, June 16, as the utility company undertakes routine network maintenance.
In a notice issued to customers on Monday, June 15, 2026, the company said the planned outages will affect several areas for up to eight hours, depending on location. Kenya Power noted that the maintenance works are aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the electricity supply.
“Good Evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (16th June 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” the company wrote.
Nairobi County
In Nairobi County, customers in parts of Mwiki will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas set to experience the outage include Mwiki, Maili Saba, Silanga, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Also in Nairobi, residents and businesses in parts of Spring Valley will be without electricity during the same period. The affected areas include Thigiri Ridge Road, Thigiri Close, Thigiri Crescent, Thigiri Gardens, Durham International School, and adjacent customers.
Uasin Gishu County
In Uasin Gishu County, power will be interrupted in the Testimony School and Haven Stay areas from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm.

Another outage is scheduled in Kabongo, Cheplaskei, Outspan, Ancila, Rehema, Small Town, Plateau Station, Kipchamo, Oxplus, Nigeria Junction, and neighbouring areas between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm.
Kisii County
Residents in parts of Kisii County will also experience power interruptions. The affected areas include Kenyenya Primary School, Nyangweta SDA Secondary School, Etago Market, Nyansembe, Nyakeye, Suguta, Moticho, Engou, Nyabera, Nyamaiya, Ekona, Mogenda, Ochodororo, Maroon, and surrounding areas.
The outage is scheduled to run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Kwale County
Meanwhile, in Kwale County, customers in Mwambungo, Muhaka, Zigira, Mvindeni, Romika, Kona Musa Ratinga, Msikiti Nure, Ibiza, Mwamanga, Jorori, Posta, Diani Police, and nearby areas will be affected from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Kenya Power apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused by the maintenance works and urged affected customers to plan accordingly.
“We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operation,” Kenya Power stated.
