Court hears how Facebook comment gave family clue on missing Michael Oloo Osoro

Rose Adhiambo Api, the second wife to the missing Michael Oloo Osoro, has told the court that they got a hint that her husband was arrested by plain- clothes police officers through a Facebook comment.
Appearing before Milimani High Court Judge Alexander Muteti on Monday, July 20, 2026, Api narrated how one Facebook user commented on a post that had been published searching for her missing husband.
Rose told the court that on Monday, June 22, 2026, after taking the details of her missing husband that included a photograph, name, and other details at the Buru Buru police station, she and friends published a missing person post on social media.
The court heard that it was under one of the posts published on Facebook that one Brenda Akoth Opondo commented that she saw the said man being taken away by plain- clothes officers from a barber shop.
According to Brenda, who said she does not work at the said barber shop, Oloo was taken out of the barber shop by three men before 9 am when he was still being shaved.
The Facebook user then shared her number with Rose, who contacted her on June 25, 2026, to get clarity on her comment about her missing husband.
Brenda explained to Rose how the husband was picked by three men in plain clothes who handcuffed him and bundled him in a black car and sped off.
“Brenda aliniambia Oloo alivurutwa nje na watu watatu wakamueka kwa gari ya black, na hao watu walikua wamevaa nguo za raiyaa,” Rose told the court.
After getting the information from Brenda, Rose went back to the police and explained how she had been told the husband was taken away, and the police told her to go back and check whether there are CCTV cameras within that area.
However, she told the court that her efforts to reach out to Brenda for her to assist in finding out whether there are CCTV cameras near the barber shop did not bear fruit because Brenda stopped picking up her calls.
Rose proceeded to report the matter at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters, and later in the company of two DCI officers from DCI headquarters and one DCI from Buruburu, and 3 police officers, met with Brenda.
In her testimony, Rose has maintained that her husband was taken away by police officers because the three men introduced themselves as police officers before handcuffing him and taking him away from the barber shop.
