Uganda’s main opposition leader, Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has trolled the country’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Hinting at how he has been hiding in plain sight and escaping security operations meant to capture him, Wine, who was the candidate for National Unity Platform (NUP) in the country’s elections, said that he is being concealed by the people.

Dismissing Muhoozi’s claims that he is a rebel, he asserted that he is “a rebel without a gun, hiding in plain sight” and dared Muhoozi to catch him if he can.

“A rebel without a gun, hiding in plain sight and yet you can’t find me because I’m concealed by the people. Catch me if you can!” Wine said.

The opposition politician who emerged second as President Yoweri Museveni bagged a seventh term to extend his rule has been on the run, with raids reportedly conducted at his home.

Videos and photos of Bobi Wine

He has been sharing videos and images of his engagements as a manhunt for him unfolds in the East African nation.

In some of the photos, Wine is seen posing near security checkpoints manned by Ugandan security officers in full uniform.

Wine has been on the run, fearing for his life, with Muhoozi posting a series of Tweets confirming that a manhunt is on the run for a political figure whom he refers to as Kabobi in his tweets, which is widely believed to be in reference to Bobi Wine.

We are most certainly hunting Kabobi. He is wanted Dead or Alive! It doesn’t matter how long it takes us, we will get him,” Muhoozi stated on Friday, January 30, 2026/.

Muhoozi hints at forgiveness

Despite his resolve to exercise vengeance for reasons that remain clear, Muhoozi hinted at forgiveness when asked by one user on the platform.

“Does he still have a chance to apologise?” One user on X asked, with Muhoozi responding that forgiveness does happen even on deathbeds.

He cautioned foreign powers against intervening to sneak the politician out of the country, stating that doing so would result in a diplomatic eruption.

“I’m going to say this only once. Any foreign powers who attempt to smuggle Kabobi outside the country are going to create a serious RUPTURE in relations!” Muhoozi added.
