Bahati and Diana’s money flex: Message after failing Harambee Stars pledge?

By , September 3, 2025

Kenyan celebrity couple Kevin Kioko, alias Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, have been making waves online with a lavish display of wealth, sparking speculation about whether they are sending a message to critics following a failed Ksh1 million pledge to a Harambee Stars player.

Known for their extravagant gestures and publicity stunts, the Bahati family has this time taken it a notch higher by flaunting wads of money, consistently keeping fans and critics talking.

Their cash-flexing videos came shortly after Bahati failed to honour a promise made to award a player from Kenya’s national football team after winning the match against Morocco in the concluded  Africa Nations Championships (CHAN ) 2024 tournament.

Show off or showbiz?

The Bahati’s move have divided fans, critics and social media commentators. Some see the online flaunting as a playful celebration of wealth, while others interpret it as a pointed response to criticism over the unfulfilled pledge.

Cash display

It all started on Thursday, August 28, 2025, when Bahati, in a video shared on his official Instagram account, was trying to explain why he failed to honour the promise he made to Harambee Stars’ player after defeating Morocco.

The singer, in the company of fellow musician DK Kwenye Beat, expressed frustration while holding wads of money, claiming there were attempts to sabotage the process and turn it into unnecessary drama.

“Kuna watu wana sabotage hii process ya mimi kupea Harambee Stars hii one million. Ndio ikue maneno mingi maneno mingi,” he said.

He further insisted that Ksh1 million was not a significant amount for him, describing it as something that should not cause such noise on social media.

“Hii ni one million, two million, 3 million. One million is too small for me. Hiyo si pesa tunasumbuana nayo kila saa online. Hii ni kitu kidogo. Avoid the people who think one million is a lot of money. That is a poor mindset,” Bahati stated firmly.

A day later, the father of five again shared a video where he handed Diana the hefty bundle, telling her to go out and enjoy herself.

“I have a million for you here just to enjoy Friday,na hii soo mbili, najua all your exes are suffering. Because they are my enemies. Tafuta ule hakua mbaya sana and give them some money,” Bahati quipped.

Aunty madoh

If that is not all, his wife, Diana, also started the new month by flaunting money while mocking those who were looking down on her.

“Where is that prefect from New Light? Esther, do you remember when you were listing me among the noisemakers? Where are you now? I hope you are in HR somewhere, hiring people for jobs. The class favourites, you were loved, and I was told my head is only full of porridge, that I cannot understand anything,” she boasted.

“The accountant would tell me to return home because I could not afford school fees. Mwalimu wa maths, hapa ni wapi? Mimi ndio tajiri hii town. You guys should look for me; I’ll give you something. You told me I would not amount to anything. Where are you now?”

As the Bahati family flaunts millions online, questions arise about whether it is a coded message to his critics or just another celebrity stunt.
