Video of Thicky Sandra threatening to buy Nairobi supermarket inspires endless TikTok challenges
A video of Thicky Sandra, the daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, dramatically threatening to buy an entire Nairobi supermarket during a livestream, has taken on a life of its own after inspiring hundreds of TikTok users to recreate the moment in hilarious challenge videos.
The now-viral clip was recorded while Sandra was accompanying Kenyan streamer Vindee during one of his popular in-real-life (IRL) livestreams around Nairobi.
The pair had been touring different parts of the city while interacting with fans live before making their way into a popular Nairobi supermarket.
However, the light-hearted shopping experience quickly took an unexpected turn after a member of staff informed them that they were not allowed to continue recording or livestreaming inside the premises.
According to Sandra, she was prepared to take drastic action if anyone attempted to stop her from recording.
“And now one of the staff told us we can’t record or proceed with the livestream in here. But I will shut this supermarket in a second,” she declared.
She then jokingly claimed she could purchase the entire establishment without hesitation.
“I will buy this supermarket in a minute. I won’t flinch. I will just tap my card and buy at the supermarket,” she said.

Sandra continued escalating the humorous rant, insisting people often underestimated her because they did not know what she was capable of.
“When I get mad, I am really mad. You all do not know who I am. That means I can buy the whole supermarket right now. Don’t play with me,” she added.
The social media personality even joked that after buying the supermarket, she would completely rebrand it.
“I will shut this supermarket down and turn it into a Thicky Sandra Hall,” she said.
She further stated that people frequently underestimated her abilities, something she claimed often worked in her favour.
“People underestimate me but don’t realise what I am capable of. I like that. Underestimate me, and the next second you will embarrass yourself,” she remarked.
Sandra also questioned whether the supermarket had any legal authority to stop them from filming, arguing that the mall was a public space.
“This is a public space, you know. Do you have a notice that says people are not allowed to film? If you do not have a permit that is legal then you do not have a right to speak or tell us where to film. This is a mall and a public place. So if you don’t have a permit, I will not answer you,” she said.
Although the exchange itself lasted only a few moments, Sandra’s dramatic remarks quickly escaped the original livestream and began circulating widely across TikTok.
Within hours, creators had extracted the audio and started using it in comedy videos, turning her statements into one of the platform’s latest viral sounds.
Among those joining the trend was TikTok creator Glossed by Jay, who paired Sandra’s audio with a humorous caption imagining how he would behave if he suddenly became wealthy.
“POV: When I get money, I will be humble… and then also me,” he wrote while using Sandra’s voice in the background.
Another creator, identified as Velma, also jumped on the challenge, joking about how confident they become despite having very little money.
“How I move when my M-Pesa is 200. I think I am toxic because I like her and I would want my kids to be like her,” the creator captioned the clip.
Since then, dozens of other TikTok users have continued recreating Sandra’s dramatic supermarket speech, using it in skits about fake wealth, exaggerated confidence and humorous everyday situations.
