Janet Mbugua applauds Natalie Githinji for putting cause above self

Media personality Janet Mbugua has praised endometriosis advocate Natalie Githinji for keeping the focus on the condition despite the attention surrounding her recent awareness event.
In a post shared on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Janet highlighted Natalie’s approach to advocacy, saying the cause had remained bigger than her as an individual.

Janet shared a video featuring Natalie while reflecting on the way she has used her personal experience with stage 4 endometriosis to create awareness.
“This is what it looks like when you know the cause is bigger than you,” Janet wrote.
She noted that Natalie could have chosen to make the conversation entirely about herself and her experience, but instead continued directing attention towards endometriosis and the people affected by the condition.
“@nataliegithinji is living with stage 4 endometriosis, and she could have made this whole moment about herself. Listen to how she talks about it, every time, she brings it back to the issue,” Janet said.
Her remarks have come shortly after Natalie’s Endometriosis Warriors awareness event held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on Sunday, September 27. The gathering brought together people living with endometriosis, celebrities, artists and supporters of the cause.
Not above the programme
Janet also used her post to reflect on the responsibility that comes with being a public figure, particularly when attending events centred on social causes.
“In a week where the loudest voices made it about themselves, this conversation is a reminder that as public figures, we’re not above the program,” she wrote.
She encouraged people watching the video to look beyond the personalities involved and consider what they can personally do to support the cause.
“So watch, and ask yourself, what can I do?” Janet added.
Her message has placed renewed attention on the purpose of awareness campaigns, particularly the importance of ensuring that conversations remain centred on the issues they were created to highlight.
