Vindee breaks silence after release following dramatic Gen Z protest arrest
Kenyan streamer Vindee has confirmed that he has been released from police custody barely a day after his dramatic arrest during the June 25 Gen Z, memorial protests in Nairobi’s Central Business District.
Speaking during a livestream on Friday, June 27, 2026, Vindee thanked the thousands of Kenyans who stood by him while he was in custody, revealing that he would not face any charges.
According to Vindee, the matter had come to an end without any case being preferred against him.
“So, guys, now I have been released, and I am outside. To everyone who supported me during my arrest, thank you very much. God bless you,” he wrote.
The streamer went on to reassure his supporters that he had not been charged with any offence.
“No charges. No case. Truth always finds its way,” he added.
Vindee also expressed gratitude to the many fans, fellow creators and well-wishers who publicly demanded his release after news of his arrest spread online.
“I’m grateful to everyone who stood by me. On to bigger and better things. ON GOD. W Maasai,” he concluded.

Vindee’s release comes a day after he was dramatically arrested while livestreaming from Nairobi’s CBD as thousands of Kenyans gathered to commemorate those who lost their lives during the June 2024 Gen Z protests.
The arrest unfolded in full view of viewers after Vindee, accompanied by his videographer and several supporters, moved through the city centre documenting the demonstrations through an in-real-life (IRL) livestream.
However, the situation quickly changed when a plain-clothed police officer approached the group and took the streamer into custody.
The unexpected arrest immediately caused confusion among those accompanying him.
His videographer appeared visibly shaken as he tried to keep the livestream running while following officers who were escorting Vindee away.
Fans watching the livestream in real time also reacted with shock, with several questioning why the content creator was being arrested.
The dramatic scenes quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting many Kenyans to demand his immediate release.
The arrest happened as demonstrations intensified across Nairobi, with thousands of young people taking to the streets to mark the second anniversary of the historic June 2024 anti-government protests.
