2Mbili expresses concern over Vindee’s condition after arrest, calls for his release

Youtuber and car reviewer 2Mbili has joined growing calls for the release of Kenyan streamer Vindee following his arrest during the June 25 protests held in Nairobi.

In a passionate message shared on Instagram on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 2Mbili expressed concern over the streamer’s welfare, particularly after learning that Vindee had been taken into police custody while dressed lightly during a day that was marked by cold weather and heavy security operations in the city.

According to 2Mbili, Vindee should not be forced to spend the night at Central Police Station, arguing that the streamer was arrested while wearing only a Maasai shuka and sandals.

“Vindee should not spend the night at the Central Police Station!! He only had the Maasai Shuka and the sandals!! Let’s save him from this cold and other things!!” 2Mbili wrote.

He accompanied the message with the hashtags #FreeVindee and #FreeISawSpeed, a nickname often associated with the streamer by some of his supporters.

The appeal comes hours after Vindee was arrested in Nairobi’s Central Business District during demonstrations organised to commemorate victims of the 2024 Gen Z protests.

The popular streamer had been moving through the CBD with members of his team, including his videographer and a group of supporters, while livestreaming events from the streets.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn when a plain-clothed officer suddenly approached and detained him, an incident that was captured live on camera.

Footage from the scene showed confusion breaking out immediately after the arrest, with Vindee’s videographer appearing visibly shaken as supporters attempted to understand what was happening.

Fans watching the livestream also reacted strongly, with many questioning the reasons behind the arrest and demanding answers from authorities.

The arrest quickly became one of the most talked-about incidents from the demonstrations, with clips circulating widely across social media platforms.

Vindee’s detention occurred against the backdrop of nationwide protests commemorating young Kenyans who lost their lives during the historic anti-government demonstrations of June 2024.

Thousands of protesters gathered in different parts of the country to honor those who died during last year’s unrest while also renewing calls for justice and accountability.
