Going to Fally Ipupa’s event? 7 ways to stay safe during and after the concert

Fally Ipupa fans are set for a long night of music, dancing and entertainment as the Congolese superstar takes the stage at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The concert is scheduled to begin at 3 pm and run until 3 am on Sunday, September 6, 2026, bringing together Fally Ipupa, South African Amapiano star Kamo Mphela, DJ Maphorisa and several Kenyan acts.
With thousands of people expected to attend a show of this scale, having fun should also come with a little planning.
Here are seven safety tips to keep in mind before heading to the concert.
1. Plan your way home before you arrive
Do not wait until the concert ends to figure out how you are getting home.
Since the event is expected to run until 3 am, decide in advance whether you will use a cab, a ride-hailing service, a designated driver or another trusted means of transport.
If you are attending with friends, agree on the transport plan before entering the venue. Avoid accepting lifts from strangers simply because it is late and you are looking for a quick way home.
2. Keep your phone and valuables secure
Crowded concerts can make it easier to lose your phone, wallet or other valuables.
Keep your phone in a secure pocket or zipped bag rather than holding it loosely throughout the night. Avoid carrying unnecessary valuables that you do not need at the event.
If you are taking pictures and videos, remember to secure your phone immediately after using it.

3. Stay close to your friends
It is easy to lose people in a large crowd, especially when everyone is dancing or moving between different sections of the venue.
Before the show gets busy, agree on a meeting point in case someone gets separated from the group.
It can also help to keep at least one friend’s phone number written somewhere other than your phone in case your device gets lost or runs out of power.
4. Know where the exits are
When you arrive, take a moment to notice the main entrances, exits and other clearly marked emergency routes.
You may never need them, but knowing where to move in an emergency can save valuable time.
Avoid blocking entrances, exits or pathways while taking photos, waiting for friends or watching the performance.

5. Be careful around dense crowds
The excitement can increase when a popular artiste comes on stage, and large groups may suddenly move towards the same area.
If you find yourself struggling to breathe, feeling dizzy or being pushed around, move towards a less crowded area and alert event staff if you need assistance.
Do not try to force your way through a tightly packed crowd.
6. Watch your drink
If you are drinking, keep your drink with you and avoid accepting open drinks from people you do not know.
Also know your limits. Being heavily intoxicated can make it harder to protect yourself, keep track of your belongings or make safe decisions when it is time to go home.
If you begin feeling unwell, seek help from event staff or medical personnel rather than trying to handle the situation alone.
7. Share your plans with someone you trust
If you are attending the concert alone or with a small group, let someone you trust know where you are going and how you plan to get home.
You can share your expected arrival time and send them a message once you leave the venue.
This is particularly important for a concert that is expected to continue into the early hours of the morning.
