Police recruitment 2025: Requirements, dates and how to apply
The government has officially confirmed that 10,000 new police constables will be recruited this year.
This is one of the biggest exercises in recent times, and many Kenyans are already asking when the recruitment will happen, what the requirements are, and how they can apply.
If you are one of those hopefuls, here is everything you need to know.
President William Ruto announced that the police recruitment will take place in September 2025.
Successful applicants will then report for training on November 17, 2025. The process is being guided by new rules to make sure that it is fair, open and free from corruption.

How the new system works
For the first time, all applications will be done online through the official National Police Service Commission portal.
This change is meant to lock out middlemen and ensure that only genuine applicants are considered.
The commission has also put in place reforms such as ending recruitment activities strictly by 4 pm, publishing names of successful candidates immediately, and carrying out medical examinations at the police training schools instead of local centres.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned Kenyans against giving bribes, saying that the process will be closely monitored by independent observers, including religious leaders and community representatives.
What you need to apply
If you want to join the service, you must be ready with your national ID, a birth certificate, your KCSE certificate, and a recent passport photo.

The minimum grade expected is D plus in KCSE, with a pass in either English or Kiswahili. The age bracket has not been fully confirmed, but sources indicate that it will be between 18 and 30 years.
Out of the 10,000 slots, 4,000 have been set aside for National Youth Service graduates. This means that if you passed through NYS, your chances are even higher.
How to submit your application
Once the portal is opened, you will need to visit the official site of the National Police Service Commission (which is www.services.npsc.go.ke/recruitment/Auth/register.php), create an account with your ID number, upload your documents, and send in your application before the deadline.

The commission has urged Kenyans to be very careful and ignore fake adverts circulating on social media. Only announcements shared on the official NPSC website, newspapers, and verified government accounts should be trusted.
What this means for you
This year’s police recruitment is different from what Kenyans have seen before. The digital application system, strict timelines and public release of results are designed to make sure that only those who qualify will succeed.
If you have been dreaming of wearing the uniform, the opportunity is now within reach. Start preparing your documents, work on your physical fitness, and get ready for the September recruitment window.
