How long it takes for a butt lift surgery to heal after struggling to sit

In recent days, Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery has been a topic of discussion after a number of Kenyan influencers publicly announced that they have undergone the procedure.

While many admire the enhanced curves and transformation, a common question that arises is, how long does it take to sit comfortably after a BBL?

Immediately after the procedure, patients often experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort.

Sitting directly on the buttocks during the early stages of recovery can interfere with results and prolong healing.

Doctors usually recommend avoiding direct pressure on the area for at least two to three weeks.

During this period, special pillows, sometimes called BBL pillows, are often used to sit in a way that shifts weight to the thighs rather than the newly enhanced buttocks.

Influencers such as Digital content creator Lydia Wanjiru and Pritty Vishy, who have publicly announced that they underwent the procedure, have been seen using BBL pillows to help them sit while still recovering.

Lydia, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, gave fans a glimpse into her recovery after bbl surgery. In the video, Lydia is seen sitting on a BBL pillow, which is placed on top of the restaurant seat.

She also revealed that in one more week, she will be able to sit without the support of the bbl pillow.

“How I sit with my bbl pillow, five weeks post-op,” she wrote.

“One week to go before I sit on my new nyash.”

Also, according to Miss Omuts, who underwent the procedure, someone cannot sit for at least four weeks and at most six weeks because of the pain.

“You cannot sit for at least four weeks and at most six weeks after a BBL because it is painful. You also cannot sit or lie on your hips because the fats are still settling,” Miss Omuts explained.

Post BBL

The first few weeks require patience and careful attention to movement. Sleeping on your stomach or side is typically advised, as lying directly on your buttocks can affect the surgical outcome.

Gentle walking is encouraged to improve circulation and reduce the risk of blood clots, but strenuous activity or heavy lifting should be avoided until cleared by your surgeon.

Most patients begin to notice significant improvement around four to six weeks post-surgery, when sitting and performing daily activities become more comfortable.

However, full healing can take up to three months, depending on factors such as age, overall health, and adherence to post-operative care instructions.

Recovery from a BBL is gradual, and patience is key. While the results are often dramatic, the process of healing takes time and requires careful attention to lifestyle adjustments in the weeks following surgery.
