Renowned African traveller and content creator Wode Maya has called on young Africans to actively embrace and champion the Borderless Africa conversation, emphasising the need to make movement across the continent easier for everyone.

Speaking from his experience of travelling to 39 African countries on Monday, February 9, 2026, Wode Maya clarified that a borderless Africa does not mean eliminating borders entirely but rather ensuring that borders do not restrict movement through cumbersome visa requirements.

“It is extremely difficult for Africans to travel within Africa, and it should not be so, because Africa is home to every African. It is time to unlock opportunities across the continent, not just in our countries of origin. When you play on home ground, you score more goals,” Maya said.

He urged the continent’s youth to lead the conversation, participate in policy advocacy, and push for reforms that allow freer movement for work, education, and cultural exchange.

Speaking on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the closing of the Prosperity Dialogues in Accra, Ghana, Eazi emphasized the need for a borderless Africa to unlock the full potential of creatives, youth and small businesses.

“ In the last four years of my career, I have spent that as an entrepreneur, and I have invested in businesses that are now live in 19 African countries,” he stated.

Further, he revealed that the greatest constraints to Africa’s growth are not talent or ambition but the friction that exists in movement, payments, and regulations across borders.

“Borders as they currently function create friction in movement in  payments, regulation  and in the abilities of small and medium scale ebterprises to scale.”
