TikToker Malcom shares how to keep your job safe in today’s competitive workplace
TikToker Arnold Malcom has shared advice on how workers can protect their jobs in today’s highly competitive workplace.
In an Instagram video on Monday, May 18, 2026, Malcon explained that many people lose their value at work because they share too much of their skills and knowledge with colleagues.
He argued that employees should be more strategic about how they position themselves within their workplaces in order to remain relevant and secure.
“If you have a valuable skill, don’t ever teach it to any other work colleague. Learn to keep people dependent on you,” he said.
He suggested that workers should avoid freely teaching their colleagues everything they know, saying that doing so can sometimes make a person easier to replace.
According to him, job security is closely tied to how indispensable a person becomes within an organisation and how much others rely on their expertise.
Malcom added that employees should focus on building personal value and developing unique skills that set them apart from others.
He claimed that in competitive environments, those who maintain a certain level of exclusivity in their knowledge are less likely to be replaced or overlooked.

“To maintain your power, make others need you so much that they cannot oppose you or replace you. So avoid teaching them enough. Your security lies in not relying on you, not relying on your unique skills, not relying on your resources, not relying on your access,” he added.
He also emphasised that success in the workplace is not only about talent or qualifications, but also about how individuals manage their influence and importance within a team.
In his view, people who position themselves as essential contributors are more likely to maintain career stability.
Malcom further stated that many people struggle professionally not because they lack opportunities, but because they fail to take consistent action or apply what they know effectively.
He suggested that execution and discipline play a key role in achieving long-term success.
