Mosiria shares update on man he helped get job after viral plea

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has shared a heartwarming update about a young man whose emotional appeal for employment captured the attention of thousands of Kenyans online.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account on Thursday, July 23, Mosiria revealed that Arap Nwach, popularly known as Chura Moja, has now been employed for two months after receiving help following his viral video.
“Mnakumbuka Arap Nwach, alias Chura Moja? Today, I paid him a visit at his workplace to see how he is settling in. I’m happy to share that he has now been working here for the past two months,” Mosiria said.
The county official explained that he first learnt about Chura Moja after coming across a video in which the young man praised the work he does before making a humble request for help in securing a job.
“I first came across Chura Moja through a video he posted online that quickly went viral. In the video, he thanked me for the work I do and humbly appealed for help in finding a job,” Mosiria recalled.
According to Mosiria, Chura Moja opened up about the difficult life he had been living while working as a livestock herder in the forest. The work was tough, the conditions were harsh, and despite the struggles, he still carried the responsibility of supporting his family back home.
“He explained that he had been working as a livestock herder in the forest, where life was extremely difficult. He also shared that his family back home depended on him, making the burden even heavier. His story touched me,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria said he reached out to a friend, and together they secured employment for the young man. Although he did not reveal where Chura Moja works, he said it was fulfilling to see him settling into his new role and earning an honest living.
“Through the support of a friend, we were able to secure him employment, and today it was encouraging to see him working,” he said.
“Sometimes, all someone needs is a single opportunity. Let’s continue lifting one another whenever we can. Small acts of kindness can completely change someone’s future,” Mosiria said.
Mosiria has in the past used his social media platforms to assist vulnerable Kenyans by connecting them with well-wishers, employers and organisations willing to offer support.
