Priscilla Wa Imani sends warning to people linking Gachagua to Rachael Wandeto’s acid attack
TikToker Priscilla Wa Imani has warned against premature conclusions linking former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to the acid attack involving gospel singer Rachael Wandeto, saying the public should allow official investigations to take their course.
Speaking in a video shared by Kikuyu YouTuber Paxson Chege on TikTok on Thursday, May 21, 2026, Wa Imani questioned the basis on which some individuals online were drawing conclusions about those responsible for the incident, saying such claims were being made without any verified evidence or investigative backing.
She argued that investigations play a critical role in establishing the truth, and therefore cautioned against people acting like the DCI by making public accusations before formal findings are released.
“I would want to ask, why then do we do investigations? They are important, but what is the need for investigations if people can already jump to conclusions on who committed the bad thing on Wandeto? And to those perpetrating those claims, I would want to know where and how they did their investigation,” she said.

Wa Imani expressed concern that some online users had already concluded that Gachagua was behind the attack, questioning how such intelligence was obtained when even state agencies are still conducting investigations.
She further wondered whether those spreading the claims had conducted any form of credible investigation, or whether they were simply relying on speculation and hearsay.
“Because I have seen many people saying that Rigathi Gachagua is the one who was behind that act. I wonder even if it is the government perpetrating that claim, I wonder if they did magic to come up with such intel,” she said.
According to her, the trend of people making conclusions before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations completes its work undermines the credibility of formal investigative processes in the country.
“You guys are even making conclusions before the DCI can complete their investigation, which means you have made yourselves the DCI. In this country, it is like some people act like investigators, so I wonder whether we will even be able to seek the DCI’s help in future,” she clarified.

She warned that if citizens continue to behave like investigators, it may eventually discourage people from seeking help from official law enforcement agencies such as the DCI.
Wa Imani emphasised that it is wrong and premature to boldly accuse any individual, including Gachagua, of involvement in the attack without conclusive evidence.
She urged Kenyans to exercise restraint, allow investigators to do their work, and avoid spreading unverified claims that could mislead the public or damage reputations.
“So what I would say is let these people proceed slowly and stop lying to yourselves. If we have the DCI in this country, let them do their work. It is wrong and very premature to come out boldly and claim that that woman was burnt by Gachagua himself,” Wa Imani said.
