Ukambani MPs accuse Gachagua of blocking Ruto from serving Kenyans
A section of Ukambani region leaders led by Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda, and Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule have launched a coordinated attack on the Democracy for Citizens’ Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during an ongoing empowerment programme in Matungulu on Thursday, August 28, 2025, the leaders, each speaking separately, trashed Gachagua’s way of politics, accusing him of undermining President William Ruto’s leadership.
The leaders cautioned that leaders like Gachagua are the reason why the government is facing resistance from its citizens due to negativity sold to them, with an aim of demonising any good project the government comes up with.
Musyoka questions Gachagua’s credibility
Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka wondered why Gachagua has been criticising Ruto after serving as his deputy for two years.
“Who are you to lecture people, jameni? Wewe jiskize vizuri sana. Advising people vile serikali inapaswa kufanya.
“Wewe si ulikua hapo? Hizi vitu nzuri unatwambia, mbona haukufanya? Why is it that you have not done them because you had two years so that we can learn from you?” Musyoka posed.
Kyule defends empowerment
On his part, Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule dismissed Gachagua’s claims that the government’s empowerment drives were a sham.

“Tuache kuambiwa ati empowerment ikifanywa ni uongo. Nani hana akili hapa? Nani hajui Fabia akiongea ile ya ukweli na uongo?
“Kwa hivyo mimi nawaomba watu wa bodaboda wa Matungulu, William Ruto message yake ni kwamba he is going to work with all Kenyans,” Kyule said.
He stressed that President Ruto’s initiatives were designed to uplift ordinary Kenyans, including youth and small-scale traders, and accused Gachagua of spreading propaganda to discredit the programmes.
Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda echoed the sentiments, arguing that Gachagua has turned into a constant complainer.
“Wakati huyo jamaa wa US alikua ndani ya seriali, alikua ananung’uka wakati ametoka nje, bado ananung’uka ndio maana waswahili husema wewe haupendeki,” she said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Mutinda said it was hypocritical for Gachagua to criticise the same administration he was part of, noting that his attacks only served to derail progress.
The leaders jointly warned that Mt Kenya politics should not be used to block President Ruto from delivering on his promises to Kenyans, especially those in marginalised regions like Ukambani.
As campaigns for the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum, the remarks signal growing rifts between pro-Ruto allies and Gachagua’s backers, who have positioned him as a central opposition figure.
