Oscar Sudi opens business for man he has been supporting after tragic accident

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has established a business for a young man he has been supporting.
The lawmaker detailed his first interaction with Sammy Kipchumba Kemei two years ago, saying that he met the 36-year-old after a devastating accident.
“When I met 36-year-old Sammy Kipchumba Kemei from Chelabal, Sosiot village, Ngeria ward, in 2024, he was still reeling from a devastating accident,” Sudi stated on X on February 18, 2026.
At the time, Kemei had just had his hand severed by a chaff cutter, leaving him with a life-changing disability.
“In October 2024, a chaff cutter machine attached to a tractor had severed his hands, leaving him struggling to cope,” he explained.
Sustainable support
The MP explained that his initial approach was providing financial support, but this was unsustainable, forcing him to rethink how best to support the 36-year-old.
Sudi eventually settled on establishing a small business for Kipchumba, who hails from his constituency, and acquired a posho mill to help him provide for his young family.

“I initially provided financial support, but soon realised it wasn’t a sustainable solution. Today, I’ve given him a posho mill, a small business venture that’ll help him provide for his family in Kapseret Constituency.
The legislator presented the posho mill to Kemei and celebrated his intervention that will enable the beneficiary to earn a living without depending on the MP.

Sudi has in recent days, shared his charitable and generous side with the public, giving a rare glimpse of the part that has largely remained hidden in the abrasive and tough world of politics.
Sudi’s generous side
The MP sponsored a student from a needy family to join high school on January 28, 2026 and committed to supporting the young learner through high school.
“I came across John Ndungu’s story on social media, and it hit me hard. This bright boy from Outspan village, Ngeria Ward, Kapseret Subcounty, had missed his chance at Samoei Boys High School. “His mum, Mary Wanjiru, was struggling to make ends meet. She’s raising him and his 11-year-old sister with cerebral palsy, washing clothes just to put food on the table. The pain of watching her kids suffer was overwhelming for her.
“I’m grateful I could step in and support John’s education. Now, he’s got a chance to chase his dreams at Samoei High School. It’s a small win, but it’s a start,” Sudi stated.
A week later on February 3, Sudi’s generous side was on display once again as he gifted a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant who cycled for five days to attend President William Ruto’s meeting at State House.

“I’ve decided to gift a motorbike to Nehemiah Rotich, a 24-year-old UDA aspirant from Cherangany, after seeing his determination to attend the aspirants’ meeting at State House despite cycling over 405km on his Mamba bicycle with minimal resources.
“He pedalled for 5 days, surviving on ugali and mboga, driven by his passion to lead and help vulnerable families in his village,” Sudi announced on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, via his social media accounts.
