Ann Njambi, wife of gospel singer Njeru Thiga, has dismissed rumours suggesting that Karangu Muraya accompanied them to India for leisure during her husband’s medical treatment.

Speaking after holding another fundraiser at the Bluesprings hotel on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, she described the singer’s presence as a vital source of comfort during a difficult period, saying that his support helped her remain calm and composed while her husband was in critical condition.

“Mr Karangu, I love you. When we went to India for my husband’s treatment, Karangu followed us, and many people focused on that, asking what Karangu had gone to do there,” she said.

According to Njambi, Karangu’s role went beyond mere companionship. He consistently provided emotional support as she navigated the stress and anxiety of seeing her husband in the ICU.

His constant reassurance, she added, allowed her to find moments of peace amid a highly stressful environment.

“But if we were not with Karangu, I am sure I would also have fallen sick due to the pressure I had from seeing my husband unwell. Karangu kept comforting me. I was so shaken and never at peace, and he used to assure me that we would be together again. I would calm down when he said that, and now I want to thank him for it,” she added.

Njambi also highlighted Karangu’s generosity during their stay in India.

She recounted instances where he covered their shopping expenses without expecting repayment, demonstrating his selfless nature and commitment to helping them in every way possible.

The wife of the gospel singer insisted that Karangu’s trip to India was focused solely on supporting Njeru Thiga, not for any personal leisure or joyride.

She clarified that the claims circulating online misrepresented his intentions and undermined the significant role he played during the treatment process.

“I remember when we were in India, we used to go to a supermarket, and we would do shopping. Karangu would pay for everything. I thought he would ask us to refund him later, but he never did,” she added.

Recovery

Previously, K24 Digital had reported that Njeru Thiga had taken a major step in his recovery journey after successfully walking for the first time following a gruelling 15-hour surgery in India.

The encouraging update was shared by gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya on Facebook on Monday, January 5, 2026, who revealed that the singer managed to walk for more than five minutes inside the hospital just days after the complex operation.

“See God… we are in tears of Joy…. a few days after a major surgery that took more than 15 hours. Our brother NJERU THIGA has walked more than 5 minutes in the hospital this evening,” Karangu wrote.

Njeru later reposted the update on his own page, further confirming the milestone.

In the emotional post, Karangu described the moment as a miracle, noting that there were tears of joy as Njeru took the steps, an achievement that many had feared would take much longer, given the severity of his condition and the length of the surgery.

According to Karangu, the operation lasted more than 15 hours and marked a critical turning point in Njeru’s battle with illness.

“Jehovah, you are Wonderful. Dear friends, this is a Journey that is spending more money than we expected…. I know there are people who love this great man of God,” Karangu added.
