Sabato urges young female artistes to prioritise their image, ignore men & drugs

Kenyan content creator and showbiz commentator Sabato Sabato, popularly known as Sauti ya Ground, has urged young female artists to pay more attention to their appearance, while advising them to stay away from drugs and distractions from relationships.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, September 24, 2026, Sabato compared Kenyan female artists with Tanzanian singer Nandy, saying the singer had set a different standard with the way she presents herself.
Sabato praises Nandy’s appearance
Sabato said his remarks were inspired by Nandy’s recent appearance at the Miss Universe Tanzania 2026 event, where the singer performed in a white outfit that attracted attention.
Nandy wore a floor-length white outfit made from sheer, lace-like beaded fabric, giving the outfit a see-through appearance. She paired it with a dramatic feathered cape that flowed from her shoulders to the floor, a high beaded collar, and white heels finished with fur pom-poms.
The see-through nature of the outfit became one of the most discussed aspects of her look, with Sabato saying she looked good during the performance. He said Nandy’s appearance showed that having children does not necessarily mean a female artist should stop paying attention to her looks.
“When you tell Kenyan female artists the truth, their excuse is always, ‘I have kids.’ Nandy has kids and still looks really attractive,” Sabato said.
Sabato calls for more attention to appearance
Sabato also claimed that some Kenyan female artists deliberately choose outfits that hide their bodies, arguing that artists should be more confident in how they present themselves.
He recalled seeing artists ask tailors to make clothes that conceal certain parts of their bodies.
“A Kenyan female artist will go to the tailor and tell the tailor, ‘Nitengeneze ile inaficha tumbo.’ When was the last time you saw a top female artist looking really sexy like this?’ he said.
His comments focused largely on the way female musicians present themselves, particularly when appearing on stage or at major entertainment events.
‘Ignore drugs and men’
Beyond appearance, Sabato encouraged young female artists to concentrate on their careers and avoid things he believes could distract them from their goals. He specifically mentioned drugs and relationships, urging upcoming musicians to remain focused on their work.
“This is why I’m encouraging young female artists to focus on their bodies, ignore drugs and men, and do their thing,” he said.
Sabato added that, in his view, female artists seeking success in the entertainment industry should also pay attention to how they look and carry themselves. “For you to be successful as a female artist, you have to really look sexy and sassy,” he said.
Nandy’s Miss Universe Tanzania appearance
Nandy’s appearance at Miss Universe Tanzania 2026 provided the backdrop for Sabato’s comments. The Tanzanian singer performed while dressed in the white beaded outfit and feathered cape, creating a stage look that stood out during the event.
For Sabato, the performance was an example of how an established female artist can combine music, confidence and stage presentation.
His comments have therefore placed attention on the wider discussion around how female musicians present themselves, maintain their careers and balance their personal lives while working in the entertainment industry.
