Gospel singer Njeru Thiga has spoken publicly for the first time since undergoing surgery in India, offering a message of gratitude and reassurance to Kenyans who have been following his health journey.

The update was shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, January 1, 2026, by his wife, Ann Njambi, who announced that the surgery was successful and that the singer is doing well.

“Posted by Ann Njambi Mrs NJERU THIGA… Glory be to God, my husband’s surgery here in India was successful…and he is doing well,” she wrote.

She credited God for the positive outcome and thanked everyone who supported the family through prayers, encouragement and concern during a period marked by anxiety and uncertainty.

“God bless you all for your prayers, support and concerns. Happy New Year,” she wrote.

She further acknowledged gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya, thanking him for his support and involvement throughout the difficult journey that led to Njeru’s treatment abroad.

“God bless you all for your prayers, support and concerns… Happy New Year… Karangu Muraya, may God bless you,” she added.

Cancer diagnosis

The update comes weeks after it emerged that the Kigooco singer had been diagnosed with intestinal cancer, a condition that had begun affecting his liver.

The diagnosis was confirmed following extensive tests conducted at the German Diagnostic Centre in Kenya, prompting doctors to recommend specialised treatment in India due to the aggressive nature of the disease.

At the time, the family revealed that Njeru had quietly battled stomach-related complications for several years, often treated as digestive issues.

Despite repeated dietary adjustments and temporary relief, the symptoms persisted until further medical investigations uncovered the cancer, a revelation that shocked the family.

The seriousness of the diagnosis led to an urgent fundraising appeal, spearheaded by Karangu Muraya and supported by fellow gospel artistes and fans, with the goal of raising approximately Ksh3 million to facilitate treatment abroad.

Kenyans responded swiftly, enabling Njeru to travel to India on December 19, 2025, where he began treatment shortly after arrival.

Earlier updates from Karangu Muraya confirmed that the singer had started medication at the Artemis Cancer Centre and described the development as a breakthrough, noting that only days earlier, the family had been unsure how to proceed due to the rapid spread of the cancer.

“A lot can happen in 24 hours…. By God’s grace, my brother NJERU THIGA started his medication here in India early this morning…. This is a great miracle that has happened this year because on Saturday last week we were all stranded,” Karangu wrote at the time.
