Gospel singer Njeru Thiga finally able to walk after gruelling 15-hour surgery in India
Gospel singer Njeru Thiga has taken a major step in his recovery journey after successfully walking for the first time following a gruelling 15-hour surgery in India.
The encouraging update was shared by gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya on Facebook on Monday, January 5, 2026, who revealed that the singer managed to walk for more than five minutes inside the hospital just days after the complex operation.
“See God… we are in tears of Joy…. a few days after a major surgery that took more than 15 hours. Our brother NJERU THIGA has walked more than 5 minutes in the hospital this evening,” Karangu wrote.
Njeru later reposted the update on his own page, further confirming the milestone.

In the emotional post, Karangu described the moment as a miracle, noting that there were tears of joy as Njeru took the steps, an achievement that many had feared would take much longer, given the severity of his condition and the length of the surgery.
According to Karangu, the operation lasted more than 15 hours and marked a critical turning point in Njeru’s battle with illness.
“Jehovah, you are Wonderful. Dear friends, this is a Journey that is spending more money than we expected…. I know there are people who love this great man of God,” Karangu added.
He expressed gratitude to God for what he termed a walking miracle, adding that the progress had lifted the spirits of everyone closely following the singer’s health journey.
While celebrating the breakthrough, Karangu also revealed that the medical journey has been more financially demanding than initially anticipated.
He appealed to well-wishers, fans, and members of the gospel fraternity to continue supporting the singer financially to ensure he is able to complete his medication and overall treatment.
“I am requesting that, as we continue to pray for him, we continue to support him financially so that he can continue to get the total medication. Please continue sending whatever you have to his number on (0725322726 Peter Njeru Thiga),” Karangu added.
In the update, Karangu also called on PBB Ministries founder Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri and Reverend Joan Ngeruro to witness what he described as a miraculous moment.
“Evangelist Lucy Wa Ngunjiri and Reverend Joan Ngeruro, come see a walking miracle,” Karangu added.

Njeru’s progress comes just days after he spoke publicly for the first time following the surgery, through a message shared by his wife, Ann Njambi, who confirmed that the operation had been successful and that he was responding well to treatment.
In the post shared on Facebook on Thursday, January 1, 2026, she thanked God and Kenyans for the prayers, encouragement, and support that enabled the family to navigate an anxious and uncertain period.
“Posted by Ann Njambi Mrs NJERU THIGA… Glory be to God, my husband’s surgery here in India was successful… and he is doing well,” she wrote.
The diagnosis was confirmed after extensive tests at the German Diagnostic Centre in Kenya, with doctors recommending specialised treatment abroad due to the aggressive nature of the disease.
At the time, the family disclosed that Njeru had quietly battled stomach-related complications for several years before further investigations uncovered the cancer.
The seriousness of the diagnosis prompted a swift nationwide response, with supporters raising funds to facilitate his travel and treatment in India.
