Diamond Platnumz teams up with Joel Lwaga for new gospel song ‘Nikumbuke’

Tanzanian Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz has teamed up with gospel music minister Joel Lwaga for a new song titled ‘Nikumbuke’, which centres on faith, patience and trusting God during difficult seasons.
The song, released on September 23, 2026, brings together two artists whose music careers have largely followed different paths, with Lwaga established in gospel music and Diamond known for bongo flava and afropop.
‘Nikumbuke’, which translates to ‘Remember Me’, takes the form of a heartfelt prayer from someone waiting on God for blessings, provision and relief.
In the song, Lwaga addresses God while explaining that his struggles do not come from comparing himself with other people who appear to be doing better.
“Baba sio kwamba nateseka amani na wivu na baraka za wengine, hapana niko sawa,” he sings.
The line reflects the song’s central message of contentment while continuing to wait for a personal breakthrough.
Lwaga then turns his attention to those who are being blessed around him, asking God not to overlook him while answering other people’s prayers.
“Unapowabariki wengine usiniache na mimi baba nakungojea,” he sings.
The prayer continues with a request for sustenance and provision, as he asks God to remember him when providing for others.
“Unapowapa riziki na wengine unikumbuke na mimi,” the gospel minister sings.
Diamond’s gospel move
The lyrics portray the experience of waiting for one’s own blessing while maintaining faith that God understands an individual’s circumstances.
