Tyler Perry’s drama series Beauty in Black is set to make a dramatic return to Netflix on Thursday, August 27, 2026, bringing fresh conflict and unexpected alliances to fans who have followed the chaotic rise of the Bellarie hair care empire.
After months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the show, viewers can now prepare for eight new episodes filled with high stakes, betrayal, and intense family politics.
High drama and new alliances in the Bellarie empire
The third season picks up with Kimmie, portrayed by Taylor Polidore Williams, finally earning her place at the Bellarie family table. However, her hard-won position is quickly thrown into chaos when a deadly family feud erupts within the business.
Facing threats from every corner, Kimmie is forced into an uneasy alliance with her former adversary, Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart. Together, the two women must navigate a treacherous landscape of blackmail and revenge as the Bellaries wage war against each other.
Fans originally thought this chapter would mark the end of the line for the series. Netflix had slated the third season as the show’s final outing in December 2025.
However, the streaming platform reversed its decision following massive viewer demand, officially un-cancelling the series and granting it a fourth season before the third season even airs.
Behind the scenes and a surprise renewal
The cast felt the emotional weight of what they believed was their final curtain call while filming. Speaking to an international media outlet in July 2026, lead actress Taylor Polidore Williams revealed that the entire third season was shot in just six days.
Reflecting on the intense production schedule, Williams noted the unpredictable nature of the story.
“It is bittersweet because these people, even with how it ends, could continue on,” Williams said. “There are a lot of different ways the story could still go. There is so much going on, so yes, it is bittersweet to know how it all shakes out.”
Fortunately for viewers, those storylines will indeed continue. Creator and director Tyler Perry confirmed that the drama is far from over. In an official statement on July 23, 2026, Perry shared his gratitude to the audience for their loyal support as anticipation builds for the fourth season.
“Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry said. “There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I am grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world.”
