Majembe says his iPhone 17 Pro Max was stolen at homecoming event

In a shocking turn of events, Vurugu Boxing champion Protifas Odipo, popularly known as Majembe, has revealed that his newly gifted iPhone 17 Pro Max was stolen during his grand homecoming celebration in Kisumu.
In a TikTok live on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Majembe, who recently rose to fame in the boxing scene, made the revelation after what was meant to be a day of celebration turned into an unexpected setback.
“Wamenichai tu ivo, roho safi simu nimeletewa halafu watu walikuja homecoming wote kunicongrat,” he said, expressing his frustration over the incident.
Homecoming event
The homecoming event drew massive attention in Kisumu, with hundreds of fans, supporters, and locals turning out to welcome him back. Streets were filled with music, dancing, and celebrations as Majembe was received like a hero following his recent success.
Videos from the event showed a lively crowd singing, cheering, and celebrating his rise, marking a major moment in his growing popularity.

The incident comes just days after a gifting ceremony where Majembe was handed the iPhone 17 Pro Max alongside other rewards, including a new ride, as part of celebrations following his victory over rival Mbavu Destroyer in a highly publicised boxing match.
His win had earned him both prize money and widespread recognition, with fans and well-wishers showering him with gifts to honour his performance in the ring.

What was meant to be a continuation of the celebration in Kisumu has now been overshadowed by the reported loss of his phone, adding an unexpected twist to his rising fame.
Cash and gifts
Majembe’s triumph earned him one of the largest prize packages in recent Kenyan boxing history. He walked away with the official Vurugu Championship Belt, Ksh 1 million in cash, a Toyota Noah valued at approximately Ksh 2.6 million, a Taro GP1 sport bike worth around Ksh 400,000, and a one-year gym membership with supplements.
The high-profile fight also drew recognition from the highest office, with President William Ruto personally congratulating Majembe.
