DJ Macdee recovers stolen Ksh280K mixer after spotting it in online advert

Kameme TV DJ and events MC Macdee has recovered his stolen DJ mixer after tracing it to an online advertisement, weeks after his car was broken into and the expensive equipment taken.
In a Facebook post on Friday, August 7, 2026, Macdee shared an update after recovering his DJM-S11 mixer, saying he was now seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding the release of a person of interest who had been arrested during the operation to recover the equipment.
According to Macdee, his car was broken into between 3:30 am and 4:30 am on July 7, 2026, during which his DJM-S11 mixer was stolen.
“JUSTICE MUST PREVAIL! MY STOLEN MIXER IS FINALLY HERE! On 7th July, between 3:30am and 4:30am, my car was broken into, and my very expensive DJM-S11 mixer was stolen. I immediately reported the matter at Mugutha Police Station, where I was attended to professionally,” he wrote.

The theft, however, did not stop Macdee from continuing with his professional commitments.
He said he purchased another mixer just two days after the incident so that his radio and television duties, as well as his commitments to clients, would continue without disruption.
“It has now been one month since the theft occurred. To avoid disrupting my radio and TV duties, as well as my commitments to clients, I purchased another mixer just two days later,” he wrote.
A breakthrough came weeks later when Macdee noticed a DJM-S11 mixer being advertised online for Ksh280,000.
The advertisement immediately caught his attention because of the circumstances surrounding his stolen equipment.
He also began receiving photographs and alerts from friends and fellow DJs who had spotted the same mixer being advertised and suspected that it could be the equipment stolen from him.
“Last week and again earlier this week, I noticed a DJM-S11 mixer being advertised online for Ksh 280,000. This immediately raised suspicion. I also received numerous photos and alerts from friends and fellow DJs regarding the same mixer, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who reached out,” he added.
With the assistance of two officers from Mugutha Police Station and his brother, Macdee said they launched an operation earlier this week to trace the equipment.
The person advertising the mixer online then led the team to the location where the equipment was being kept.
The operation eventually led them to a home in Parklands, where the mixer was recovered.
“With the assistance of two dedicated officers from Mugutha Police Station and my brother, we launched an operation earlier this week. The individual advertising the mixer online eventually led us to the location where the mixer was being kept. By God’s grace, we recovered the mixer yesterday,” he wrote.
Macdee said the identity of the mixer was subsequently verified using its serial number.
The serial number found on the recovered DJM-S11 matched the number on his original purchase receipt, providing a direct link between the recovered equipment and the mixer he had reported stolen.
He also identified other distinctive features on the equipment.
According to Macdee, his stickers had been removed from the mixer, leaving visible adhesive residue, while traces of his blue-and-white theme colours remained on parts of the equipment.
He said the combination of the matching serial number, receipt and distinctive markings left no doubt in his mind that the recovered mixer was his.
“We verified the serial number against my purchase receipt, and it matched perfectly. I also identified distinctive marks on the mixer, including areas where my stickers had been removed, leaving visible adhesive residue and traces of my blue-and-white theme colors. There is no doubt whatsoever that the mixer is mine,” he added.
