Media personality Kamene Goro has left fans’ mouths wide open. Not out of excitement, but sheer shock and disbelief.

This is after she candidly narrated her struggles, including being kicked out of her father’s house at the age of 23, a moment she says changed her life forever.

Speaking during a local podcast interview on Saturday, January 3, 2025, Kamene revealed that moving out of home was never rushed or planned.

“I was not in a rush to move out of home. A lot moved out when they were on campus. I moved out of home when I was 23,” she said.

She disclosed that after leaving home, her aunt hosted her for about a year before she later moved out of the country, hopping from one place to another while trying to stabilise her life.

However, the most painful moment came when she was abruptly forced out.

“I was actually chased out of my home. I was chased in the middle of the night,” Kamene revealed.

With nowhere else to go, she checked into a hotel, a decision that quickly became financially draining.

“I stayed in a hotel for some time, but then I realised I was spending too much,” she said.

Kamene disclosed that she was paying Ksh11,500 per night at the hotel, which totals to Ksh356K monthly.

“In the hotel I stayed earlier, I was paying eleven five per night. Na mtu asifanye hiyo calculations juu tutakosana sana,” Kamene said.

Costly survival choices

Realising the arrangement was unsustainable, a friend stepped in to help her find a furnished house.

Kamene said she moved into the house and paid Ksh65K per month, where she stayed for a full year as she tried to rebuild her life.

Later, after saving some money, she bought her own furniture and moved to Madaraka, Westlands.

“When I put some money aside, I purchased some furniture and moved to Madaraka pale Westlands, where I was paying fifty-five,” she explained.

Kamene’s story has sparked a wide conversation online, with many praising her honesty and resilience.

Fans say her experience highlights the hidden struggles behind public success and the harsh financial realities many young Kenyans face when forced to fend for themselves.

Her revelation has since resonated with many, serving as a reminder that behind the microphone and fame, survival often comes at a very real and painful cost.
