Savinho completes permanent move to Tottenham from Manchester City

Sávio Moreira de Oliveira (Savinho) has officially left Manchester City after agreeing to join Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent transfer.

The Brazilian winger departs the Etihad following two seasons with City, during which he made 84 appearances and found the net seven times. His move has officially been confirmed by Spurs on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Savinho arrived at Manchester City from fellow City Football Group club Troyes after impressing during his loan spell at Girona. He made his City debut in August 2024, featuring in the Community Shield victory over Manchester United, which was decided by a penalty shootout.

His maiden goal for the club came in December 2024 during City’s victory away to Leicester City. He later scored against Club Brugge in the Champions League and Juventus at the FIFA Club World Cup.

During the following campaign, Savinho added four more goals to his tally. He opened his account in September 2025 during City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup victory at Huddersfield Town before scoring the second goal in a 2-0 Premier League win over Brentford shortly before Christmas.

He also found the target against Newcastle United in the FA Cup in March 2026, helping City advance, before completing the scoring in a 3-0 home victory against Crystal Palace in May 2026.

Savinho’s message to Manchester City

Reflecting on his departure, Savinho expressed his appreciation for his time at the club.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Manchester City,” he said. “My teammates, the staff, the fans… all of them were brilliant with me. I am a better player and better person having spent time at City.

“As soon as I joined City, I knew what a top club it was. They provide players with so much to help them and make sure they improve. I will always be grateful to them for that.

“I enjoyed my time there immensely, especially winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season – moments I will treasure.

“I learned a lot while at City and it was an honour to play with my brilliant teammates.

“I wish City the very best for the future.”

City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana also praised Savinho’s contribution during his spell at the club.

“Savinho has been a big part of our last two seasons, including the silverware we won last year.

“He arrived in Manchester as a 20-year-old with limited senior experience and leaves as an FA Cup and Carabao Cup winner with lots of Premier League and Champions League games under his belt.

“Everyone at City would like to place on record our thanks to Savinho for all his efforts during his time with us and we wish him the very best on his move to Spurs.”

Savinho leaves Manchester City having collected two major domestic honours and with valuable experience gained in both the Premier League and Champions League.

The club has wished the 22-year-old Brazilian winger every success as he begins the next chapter of his career with Tottenham.
