Transfer rumours: Tottenham eye Man City duo as squad overhaul continues

Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their efforts to strengthen their attack before the transfer window closes, with Manchester City pair Savinho and Omar Marmoush emerging as key targets.
Spurs are currently negotiating with City over a possible deal for both forwards. Discussions are progressing, although the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement. Savinho is understood to be open to a move to north London.
Tottenham’s preferred plan is to add three attacking players before the deadline. Their leading targets include Savinho, Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo and a new central striker. Marmoush and Chelsea attacker Pedro Neto are among the alternative options being considered.
Gakpo move
Tottenham are monitoring Liverpool’s situation closely before making a serious move for Cody Gakpo. Spurs are waiting to see whether Liverpool complete a deal for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and potentially his PSG teammate Ibrahim Mbaye.

If Liverpool strengthen their attack with those additions, Tottenham could then step up their pursuit of Gakpo alongside their interest in Savinho.
Gakpo could potentially operate through the middle under Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, but he is not viewed as the club’s first-choice solution at centre-forward.
The London club want a specialist striker capable of consistently scoring goals while also helping connect the different parts of the attacking unit.
Should Tottenham fail to land Gakpo, Neto is another player who could come into consideration.
Tottenham spend heavily
The scale of Tottenham’s planned attacking rebuild would be significant given their spending earlier in the summer.
The club have already invested more than £200 million (approximately Ksh34.96 billion) on six senior players and could potentially complete as many as nine first-team additions before the window shuts.
Their biggest expenditures so far have included midfielders Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes, who arrived from Newcastle United and West Ham United respectively in deals worth a combined £185 million (approximately Ksh32.34 billion).
Defender Jan Paul van Hecke was signed from Brighton for £52 million (approximately Ksh9.09 billion) as a replacement for Cristian Romero, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka joined without transfer fees.
City face difficult replacement task
Manchester City could be forced into further transfer activity if Savinho and Marmoush depart.

Both players have been regarded as being outside City’s preferred first-team plans for much of the summer, although they remain free to compete for places in the squad.
City are prepared to consider acceptable offers for players who want regular football elsewhere rather than guaranteed opportunities at the Etihad Stadium.
However, allowing both forwards to leave would leave Pep Guardiola’s side with positions to fill, with the club expected to seek replacements.
