Jux’s wife Priscilla clarifies linking post-childbirth depression to poverty

Tanzanian singer Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, has spoken out after online claims surfaced claiming that she described depression after childbirth as an illusion caused by poverty, remarks she firmly denies making.
The controversy began after an X user reposted a claim suggesting Priscilla had been asked about marriage and emotional well-being after giving birth, and stated that she never experienced depression after childbirth because her love for her husband “tripled,” before adding that the condition was an illusion tied to poverty.
The post quickly attracted attention, accumulating over 1 million views, drawing mixed reactions and criticism from users who felt the claimed comments were dismissive of mothers struggling with mental health challenges.
Clarifying her position
Priscilla, however, moved swiftly to distance herself from the quote. In a brief response on Instagram on Friday, January 30, 2026, the influencer and entrepreneur questioned where the statement came from and condemned the attribution as false.
“What do you mean, I said, postpartum is an illusion caused by poverty’!!! Insulting mothers… very insensitive,” she wrote

She said she never described depression after childbirth as an illusion or linked it to poverty, adding that such words would be deeply insensitive to mothers and families affected by the condition.
The Nollywood star, Priscilla Ojo, further cautioned the X user to be ready to provide evidence, writing, “It’s never ©, what’s wrong with Twitter? Be ready to provide evidence!!”
Priscilla Ojo and Tanzanian singer Juma Jux have shared a journey from high-profile wedding to parenthood over the past year.
The couple tied the knot earlier in 2025, holding ceremonies between February and May. Their wedding drew attention across East Africa, with family, friends, and colleagues in attendance.

In July 2025, they announced they were expecting their first child. Recently, they hosted a blue-themed gender reveal party, confirming they were expecting a boy. On August 24, 2025, Priscilla and Juma Jux welcomed their son, Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, in Canada.
